Mirador Lookout San Gerardo

There are many opportunities for hiking in Monteverde, and is perhaps the best way to learn about the beauty and diversity of the country.

The hike to the San Gerardo Lookout lasts about 3 hours on a public, gravel road, 9 kilometers or 5.4 miles. Along the road there is lush vegetation and an opportunity to compare the variety of microclimates in short distances.

When you reach the Mirador, or Lookout, there is a restaurant that serves local cuisine and has a marvelous view of the Arenal Volcano and a part of Lake Arenal.

The lookout is on a private farm where there are also trails for hiking through the forest or to visit some waterfalls.

You can also visit the Mirador in car or taxis.
